Recent discoveries have begun to reveal the secret language of the body and how cells talk to each other to keep us healthy. Known as cell signaling, this biological communication occurs when cells are injured and release proteins, which are then detected by surrounding cells to trigger a healing response. PicoSure’s PressureWave™ technology uses a unique wavelength of light (755nm) and a specialized lens to convert laser energy into gentle pressure. What Should I Expect?

With PicoSure, there’s no special prep and procedures typically take about 10-15 minutes. Most people experience no pain and describe treatments as feeling like the snapping of a rubber band, but we also offer numbing cream and use a Zimmer cryo machine to minimize any possible discomfort.

Ideal Candidates
Candidates for treatment with PicoSure® Focus™ are non-smokers in good health. Patients wish to treat certain aesthetic concerns without an invasive procedure (like microneedling). Issues that can be corrected with PicoSure® Focus™ include the following:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Acne scars
- Hyperpigmentation (dark spots caused by age or sun damage)
- Loose skin
Procedure
Your skin will first be cleansed to remove oil and dirt. A topical anesthetic can then be applied if desired, but this step is not always necessary. The handpiece will then be passed over the target site, and the laser energy will be absorbed by the skin. This process penetrates three different layers of the skin to treat several cosmetic issues. You may feel a warm sensation as the light energy is absorbed by your skin, but a cooling device will be used during your session for additional comfort.
Recovery and Results
There is no downtime necessary after your PicoSure® Focusâ„¢ treatment. Some patients have reported slight swelling or redness afterward, but these typically resolve within an hour or two.Â
You may begin to see some effects after your first session, but most patients need two to three sessions for optimal results. Laser treatment also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which can take a few weeks to become apparent. Patients will see skin that is smoother, softer, and more youthful once they have completed the recommended series of treatments.
