Far Infrared Sauna

Far infrared sauna: what is it?

London Laser Far Infra-Red SaunaFar Infrared, also called radiant energy, is a completely safe form of energy that heats objects directly without heating the air in between. All living things even our own bodies emit far-infrared energy. The most abundant source of it, we come into contact with on a daily basis, is the sun. It is essential in our healing process and for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Far Infrared heat penetrates into the body one and one half inches deep where it heats the water molecules in your body to the point where they vibrate. This forces the toxins out of the body in the form of sweat. We need to detoxify the chemicals & pollutants from our body, that we are exposed to everyday in our food and environment. Infrared therapy has been used successfully to detoxify drug, alcohol and tobacco dependency.

Far-Infrared saunas are preferable to traditional dry heat or steam saunas because the air inside the sauna remains cooler, allowing for a longer and more comfortable sauna experience. A moderately conditioned person can easily release 500 grams of sweat in a 30-minute far-infrared sauna session = the equivalent of 475 to 600 calories or a 2 – 3 mile run. While the lost fluid can be replaced, the expended calories will not.

What kinds of skin problems can far infrared help with?

  • Because far infrared heat helps open clogged pores, it helps with the removal of dirt, oil, and makeup.
  • Because it detoxifies your body, it helps with skin problems such as acne, rashes, eczema and psoriasis.
  • Because far infrared increases blood flow, it is beneficial for cellulite, hemorrhoids or varicose veins.
  • Because it is healing, it helps every organ to function better, such as the liver which is often involves in chronic skin diseases.
  • Because it heats tissues, it speeds the healing process of skin injuries, such as wounds, burns, or cuts. Even scars may be gradually softened.

How often should you use it?

It is best to use it as often as you can (daily) for best results, but once a week is still beneficial to your skin.
However, if your skin problem gets worse with sweat, which is sometimes the case for psoriasis or other bacterial infections, you may want to avoid sweating. Keep in mind it might be worst at the beginning but will get better as your body is getting rid of the toxins. A cold shower right after the sauna is advisable in this case; otherwise it is better to wait for an hour before washing because your body keeps on sweating after the sauna.
