What Is Coronavirus
At this point we don’t really know that much because of how fast this virus is spreading.

We do know that the SARS-CoV-2 is a lipid enveloped virus, and it is related to SARS, MERS, and rest of the coronaviruses. This lipid coating is what gives the virus it’s distinctive spiked shape and allows it to attach to our cells. It also protects the virus. So we can look into compounds that may inhibit coronavirus by looking at what other lipid enveloped viruses are generally vulnerable to.
The Good News
Lipid coated viruses have similar vulnerabilities. For one, they can’t stand (loss of moisture) and heat. They also cannot tolerate an acidic environment at all. Alcohol or heat will sterilize the enveloped viruses almost instantly.
So do we start chugging hard liquor, eat tons of acidic foods, and take a hot bath 24/7? Is that how we’re going to inhibit coronavirus?
No, because that won’t be good for the body. So the way to inhibit coronavirus is going to be largely the same as treating other enveloped viruses.
But First – What to Avoid
Before we get into the supplements to inhibit coronavirus, I want to stress that you should not just reach for any immune enhancers that you can think of.
The problem with many of these antiviral remedies is the fact that their efficacy largely depends on an individual’s immune response to a particular virus and the particular remedy. For patients with an excessive number of immature white blood cells, many of these antiviral remedies actually worsen and prolong a bout with a common or pandemic flu virus by overstimulating their immune system even more, instead of helping the body to produce healthy white blood cells and thereby lowering their numbers. Or, a (pandemic) virus is immune to cytokines such as TNF-a or IL-6, causing a cytokine storm as a result of the body trying to cope with its inability to fight the virus, which affects healthy individuals to their detriment as well. Those with a weak or inefficient immune system frequently do not tolerate certain antiviral remedies that seem to work well for people whose immune system functions properly, with Echinacea being one example. While herbs such as Echinacea can be effective against the common flu, they tend to overstimulate the immune system in even healthy individuals proteins such as lymphokines and interleukins (IL6, IL10) – being ineffective against a pandemic virus. This is one reason why many younger, and seemingly healthy individuals die during a Pandemic Flu. (H1N1 = Swine Flu, H5N1 = Avian / Bird Flu Covid-19).
Many compounds (e.g. Elderberry) also increase the production of immature white blood cells in individuals whose numbers are already on the high side, and thus worsen some forms of leukemia. Various foods, spices, and beverages affect the immune system in a similar fashion, and should be increased or avoided accordingly. The number one cause of suffering and death due to COVID-19 is pneumonia. Immune responses such as elevated IL-6, IL-10, and TNF (tumor necrosis factor) are implicated in pneumonia. We can call this an autoimmune response.

- Lack of sleep.
- Gluten and lectins.
- Too little or too much exercise.
- Viral infections.
- Bacterial infections.

Potential Supplements to Inhibit Coronavirus
Coconut oil contains 50% lauric acid, which is a precursor to monolaurin. Taking monolaurin directly is much more potent than eating coconut oil, however. Breast milk contains lauric acid and it is known to be antiviral.
Monolaurin shows powerful activity against lipid enveloped viruses. Even in low temperature environment, enveloped viruses showed extreme sensitivity to Monolaurin .
Monolaurin is likely to inhibit viruses by disintegrating their outer membranes (lipid envelope).
Selenium deficiency may have extremely high implication in viral infections and mutations.
Selenium deficiency leads to low glutathione levels. The selenium deficient regions are more susceptible to HIV infections in the population.
HIV infection rates are the highest where selenium intake is the lowest. African countries with AIDS rates, Zimbabwe 26%, Botswana 25%, Zambia 19%, South Africa 13%.
If we take a look at Senegal, where they have the highest level of selenium rich soil in Africa, they have AIDS rate of 1.77%.
China has a very widespread selenium deficiency. It’s also where many viruses mutate into much more powerful strains.
Spirulina (Green Blue Algae)
Spirulina (green blue algae) has recently came on the market as a super food and nutrient dense supplement.
Spirulina have antioxidant, anti-cancer, immunomodulating, and antiviral properties. According to Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, green blue algae contains a very powerful protease inhibitor.
Spirulina is capable of inhibiting several lipid enveloped viruses such as herpes, HIV, and cytomegalovirus.
It inhibits IL-6 so it may also be helpful in reducing the autoimmunity caused by the SARS-CoV-2. It does raise other immune departments, but not IL-6.
Silver nanoparticles are coming into interest as potential novel antimicrobial agents. As drug resistant strains develop and standard vaccines and treatments can’t keep up, novel anti-virals and antibacterials based in nanoparticulate metals such as silver and gold are gaining favor. Silver can kill hundreds of viruses and bacteria whereas standard antibiotics and anti-virals kill just a few specific strains.
Colloidal or ionic silver have been shown to kill or prevent infection of the following viruses and bacteria:
SARS, E-coli, Smallpox, Herpes Simplex 1 and 2, HIV, Hepatitis B, Streptococcus pneumonia Staphylococcus aureus (such as MRSA)
Silver disables a specific enzyme used by single celled viruses and bacteria to metabolize oxygen which then suffocates the cell. There are other means by which silver can harm viruses and bacteria including disrupting their reproduction and respiration. Silver often works on drug resistant strains.
